Ceramic Momentum – Staging the Object
Udstilling på CLAY Keramikmuseum Danmark i 2019. Kurateret af Copenhagen Ceramics, med værker af 23 danske og internationale keramikere.
Væginstallationen ”Par” består af tolv par: en naturalistisk plantegengivelse og en abstrakt fortolkning af samme. Der er en friktion imellem den måde vi ser den konkrete plante og den symbolske fremstilling, og man må skifte blikket mellem de to. Imitationen har to roller: den forestiller en plante, og den er et stykke glaseret keramik.
Blomster indtager en beskeden position i kunsten, som noget banalt, blødt, ofte tildelt dekorationens birolle. Samtidig er blomstermotivet fyldt af betydninger, og dermed styrke. Jeg vil gerne arbejde med vores forventninger til blomster som et sentimentalt motiv i keramikken. I væginstallationen “Par” er der en stor forskel mellem de to måde at portrættere planten, og derfor er det interessant at sammenstille dem.

The wall installation “Pair” consists of twelve pairs: one naturalistic and one abstract part. There is a friction between the way we see the concrete plant and its symbolic representation, one has to switch the gaze between the two. The imitation has two roles: it is (referring to) a plant and it is (present as) a piece of glazed stoneware.
Flowers hold a modest position in the arts as something banal, often assigned the subordinate part. I like to work with this condition; it demands something from its audience. I like to play with our expectations of flowers as a kind of sentimental motifs in ceramics. I think there is a big difference in the expression in the two ways of portraying a plant in “Pair”, and therefore it is interesting to bring them together.
